4. Product Data retention

Product Data is stored both in the device itself and sent to remote servers (so-called backends). The retention period of the collected data depends on the type of data and the use case.

The table below sets out whether the Connected Product is capable of storing Product Data on-device or on a remote server, including, where applicable, the intended period of retention:

4.1 RG-RAP series wireless routers, gateways, home routers, wireless bridges, and switches:

Capable of Storing Location

Intended Period of Retention

On-device

Yes

Depend on the storage capacity set by you.

  • Device configuration information: It is retained permanently and can only be deleted manually or upon a factory reset.
  • Device status information: It is cleared after a device restart.
  • Device logs: On devices with a hard drive or Embedded Multimedia Card (eMMC), the retention period can be configured for the logs; on other devices, the logs are cleared upon device restart.

Upon a factory reset, all stored information on-device is deleted.

On a remote server (Ruijie OCE)

Yes

  • When a device is unbound from the remote server, information related to running status, configuration, and alarms of the device will be deleted.
  • Device logs: The information is retained for six months.
  • Client information: The real-time data and statistical data is retained for three days and six months, respectively.

For the provision of the cloud management service, data collected from devices may be transmitted to Ruijie servers and, if necessary, is stored there. Ruijie shall store the data within the time limit stipulated by relevant laws or agreed with users (which must meet the necessary needs for providing products/services to the user). The retention period of the collected data depends on the type of data and the purpose of the use case. Once the purpose has been fulfilled and there are no retention obligations, the data is deleted.

4.2 Other series wireless routers and access controllers:

Capable of Storing Location

Intended Period of Retention

On-device

Yes

Data collected during the current collection period shall be retained until it has been reported and transmitted, and shall be deleted thereafter.

On a remote server (Ruijie OCE)

Yes

Depend on the storage capacity of your server.

For the provision of network device management, Internet behavior analysis, and troubleshooting services, device information will be uploaded to specified servers with the administrator's authorization, and data collected from devices may be transmitted to Ruijie servers and, if necessary, is stored there.

5. How to access, retrieve and erase Product Data
