Recently, Ruijie Networks has partnered with LifeSeed Co., Ltd. to implement and expand public wireless networks in several locations across Japan, including the Tama Shopping Center in Tokyo Metropolis, Oi Wharf Central Seaside Park, and the Koshimizu Town in Shari District, Hokkaido.

Tokyo has launched the "Connected Tokyo" initiative, aiming to deploy wireless local area networks (WLANs) that support OpenRoaming, a next-generation public WLAN roaming platform, and eduroam, an academic WLAN roaming platform across approximately 1,300 locations by the end of fiscal year 2025. These locations include cultural institutions, sports venues, hospitals, welfare centers, schools, airports, train stations, tourist spots, and disaster prevention facilities. The goal is to achieve widespread Wi-Fi coverage and accessibility throughout the city.

Wireless Coverage Enhances Shopping Experience at Tokyo's Tama Shopping Center

In March 2024, the Tokyo Tama Shopping Center was relocated, and a public WLAN was set up at the new site. Ruijie Networks deployed its RG-AP840-I(V2) indoor access points (APs) to provide WLAN coverage. The WLAN supports both OpenRoaming and eduroam, aiming to provide seamless connectivity for consumers and enhance the wireless environment for administrative work within the shopping center.

Seamless and Secure Wireless Coverage at the Oi Wharf Central Seaside Park

The public WLAN at Oi Wharf Central Seaside Park is built and maintained using optical cables. Ruijie Networks deployed its RG-AP680-CD(V3) outdoor APs to provide wireless coverage throughout the park. With this upgrade, the public can enjoy secure, seamless Wi-Fi access throughout the park by using the WLAN that supports OpenRoaming and eduroam.

Wireless Coverage for Disaster Prevention in Koshimizu Town, Shari District, Hokkaido

To prevent disasters and ensure reliable communication during extreme weather conditions such as snowstorms and floods, Koshimizu Town in Shari District, Hokkaido, has introduced a public wireless roaming infrastructure. Ruijie's RG-AP840-I(V2) indoor APs and RG-AP680-CD(V3) outdoor APs are deployed to build a stable and reliable WLAN. This network covers six public facilities, including the Watashino complex government building that serves as a disaster prevention base.

LifeSeed Co., Ltd. is a member of eduroam JP provided by National Institute of Informatics (NII) and Cityroam. The company is also one of Ruijie Networks' partners in Japan, responsible for the construction and maintenance of a secure and seamless OpenRoaming- and eduroam-compatible public wireless network, a project being carried out by the Tokyo Bureau of Digital Services.

Ruijie Networks' products and solutions are now deployed in over 90 countries and regions globally. In Japan, it is a leading provider in the apartment ISP sector. During Interop Tokyo, Japan's premier networking and telecom exhibition, Ruijie's RG-S6980-64QC 400G data center switch won the "Best of Show Award" Special Award in 2022, while the RG-AP9860 Wi-Fi 7 AP also received the same award in 2023.
